Bruichladdich 30 Year Old Tasting Notes
Without water
Nose: Focussed with hints of espresso, dark chocolate truffles and caramel. Then toasted notes with linseed and extra virgin olive oil.
Palate: Delicate texture, lightly creamy vanilla broadens into panna cotta, chocolate truffles and espresso. Then crisp toasted notes usher in malty, digestive biscuits and linseed. A finale of orange marmalade on buttery, well-done toast.
Finish: Juicy fruit and balancing dryness, with a medley of figs, light oak, toasted notes, espresso, raisins and chocolate truffles.
With water
Nose: More pronounced fruit, then oak. Linseed and extra virgin olive oil take over, with lemon tart, brioche and digestive biscuits at the edges.
Palate: More integrated, with juicy citrus top notes and pronounced malty, digestive biscuits on a platform of dry oak, garnished by sweetness and richness.
Finish: Gradually opens up with a balance of fruit and oak, with malt notes and dryness growing.
Comment: A perfect digestif dram. But, it doesn’t need to be a sequel to a good dinner, it’s an event in itself

About The Qilin
The Qilin is a creature of legend, its origins lying in the ancient tales of the East, yet its symbolism resonates strongly with the traditions of Scotland. Often portrayed as a noble, horse-like beast bearing a single horn and wreathed in celestial flame, it bears a striking likeness to the Unicorn, the historic emblem of Scotland. Through this shared form, the Qilin is seen as a bridge between worlds, uniting eastern mythology with Scottish heritage, and standing as a symbol of wisdom, justice, and truth.
Old stories tell that the presence of the Qilin marks a time of peace and prosperity, and that those who encounter the creature are rewarded with good fortune. Rich in character and layered with echoes of the past, the Qilin carries the power of ancient folklore into the present, a reminder that tradition and myth still live on in the modern age.
