We are proud to announce that Spiritfilled has now joined the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, one of the longest-established and most respected trade bodies in the Scottish drinks and hospitality sector. Founded in 1880, the association has represented the interests of the licensed trade for well over a century, providing a collective voice for businesses operating within an increasingly complex regulatory and commercial environment.
The Scottish Licensed Trade Association was created to support those involved in the production, storage, sale, and service of alcoholic drinks across Scotland. Over time, its role has expanded to include engagement with both national and local government, helping to ensure that legislation affecting the industry is informed by practical experience and a clear understanding of how the trade operates in the real world. In recent years, this role has become even more important as regulatory scrutiny of alcohol production, distribution, and retail has continued to grow.
For businesses involved in whisky, bonded storage, and cask ownership, the legislative landscape is particularly detailed. Licensing, bonded warehousing, duty suspension, health and safety requirements, and local authority regulation all form part of the framework within which the Scotch whisky industry operates. Organisations such as the Scottish Licensed Trade Association play a vital role in representing the interests of legitimate operators, promoting high standards, and ensuring that new rules are introduced in a way that supports the long-term strength of the sector rather than creating unnecessary barriers.
