We are incredibly proud to share that Mythical Beasts The Phoenix (Port Dundas 24 Year Old) has been awarded Scotch Grain of the Year in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2025–2026.
This is a significant honour. Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible is widely regarded as the most comprehensive and fiercely independent whisky guide in the world. Each edition sees more than 4,200 whiskies tasted and assessed across every major category, with medals awarded only to those that truly stand out on quality alone. To take the top spot in Scotch grain whisky, against such a vast field, is a remarkable achievement.
A standout Port Dundas release
The Phoenix is a 24-year-old single grain Scotch whisky distilled at the now-closed Port Dundas Distillery, a name revered among grain whisky enthusiasts for its elegant, complex spirit and ability to age exceptionally well.
Matured for over two decades before being finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, this whisky brings together the refinement of well-aged grain with the richness and depth of PX maturation. The result is a beautifully balanced profile that delivers layers of dark sweetness, polished oak, and long, warming complexity without ever losing its composure.
With just 226 bottles released, The Phoenix was always destined to be a rare and collectable bottling. Recognition at this level confirms what many already suspected. This is a grain whisky operating at the very highest tier.
