As the new year starts, we all reflect on our plans for the year ahead. If you've bought a whisky cask in years gone by, you may now be thinking about selling your whisky. And, if you are thinking about selling, we'd be pleased to help.

We buy and sell whisky casks every day. Here's the four step process we take our clients through:

1: Free Valuation

We'll learn as much as we can about your whisky cask. Don't worry, this is easier than it sounds - we know what we need. Once we've learnt about your whisky cask, we'll compare it with current, and recent, sales of comparable casks - as well as using our own experience. This will help us reach a robust valuation, which we'll then share with you. 

This process is absolutely free, and comes with no obligation. If you decide not to progress any further, then at least you have an up-to-date valuation for your whisky cask. And, you're always welcome to get back in touch with us in the future, should you eventually decide to sell.

2: Find a buyer

There are typically three types of buyers we find for our clients. 

The first is another private client. We're constantly looking out for good whisky casks that our clients are after for their collections. So we may well have a ready-made buyer for your cask.

The second is into the industry. We work with a wide range of independent bottlers and blenders, who are constantly in need of whisky casks for their releases. We'll talk with our industry friends and see who is interested in buying your whisky cask.

The third is, us! We're an independent bottler. We're proud to have released a range of award-winning single cask whiskies under our Mythical Beasts label. So, chances are, we may be able to buy your whisky cask ourselves! And, top tip, speak with us about putting a bottle or two aside for you. After all, if you've been nurturing a whisky cask all these years you may well like a bottle or two for your own shelf!

3: Draw up the paperwork

We'll agree the final price between you and the buyer. And once you're happy, it's time to conclude the sales. We'll take care of all the paperwork on your behalf, and will liaise with the buyer. This makes your life simple and easy.

4: Complete payment

And the final step is the easiest. Once everything is sorted, we'll wire you your funds. They should be in your bank account within days.
